Forest Green Sweater

by

Sue Marier

Lint pills
artistically shaping its surface
Previous meals stain his
Thread barren Grey pants
Shuffling along with his walker
"At least he keeps moving"
Black slippers on his feet
"They're so swollen he couldn't get them in shoes"
In his day he might have been..
an entertainer, a businessman, a tradesman
now an old man past his prime
In rhythm with other proud citizens
in their golden years.
