The Tea Party
by
Sue Marier

Loyal subjects surrounding their leader
Staring quietly with glazed eyes
Not a limb or muscle moving
Each waiting for their stories to be told.
Gray kitten with its thread barren nose,
a world traveling kangaroo,
Mr. Bear who starts each nights in bed,
only to spent countless hours lost under it.
All love worn stuffed animals
with a china teacup and saucer nearby.
receiving make believe tea
and a shoe string potato chip on the side.
Today is their moment of glory
dressed in their hand sewn clothes.
All sitting proudly propped on the bedroom carpet,
drinking tea with the mistress of the room.
