Broken Wing

by

Susan Rippe

Soaring and flying,

going the distance as freedom rings,

enchanting to the ear.

Smiling, so happy to be me.

Things have now changed.

With Broken Wing,

I stare and I wonder.

How could this be?

Like my heart, I am broken,

I will never be free.

I stand grounded. Alone. Abandoned.

You fly with the eagles, I stand with the sea.

Broken, mind, body and soul.

Time will heal my Broken Wing.

My heart will grow cold,

perhaps to the lowest degree.

Life will go on.

I will break my Wing again, But...

My heart belongs to me.
