How I Long To Belong To The
      Sea
      by

      Suzanne Tyson

With arms
outstretched, I dance on the shore to the rhythm of
the sea.
My soul and senses exploding, imploding.
How I long to belong to the sea!
I step to the edge of the ocean floor. The mighty
waters gushing to roar
with a voice of strength upon my ear. I know my
loving God is near.
Up from the deep depths. Pulsing and breathing to
tumble and rumble.
Cresting and peaking it’s way to the shore. To
return to it’s home once more.
Restless and rounding, descending and ending to
languish its self
to the earth. I stand in its wake, my heart it
will take.
Swish! Wish!... Whoosh! Whispering my name, the
waves will pound.
Resounding my name, to beckon me, to call me again,
to belong to the sea.
With awe, I wait. Anticipate! Grains of sand
shifting, stirring, sinking
beneath my feet, I stand and shake within it’s
quake. My heart leaps!
With joy! in the presence and essence of its
clandestine power. It showers
me with love for my tired soul. It heals my heart
and more.
The sky above flares, a fiery of red.
Time to retire, to relinquish the day.
I turn to return from whence I came
my heart and soul, my own to claim.
With arms outstretched, I dance on the shore to the
rhythm of the sea.
My soul and senses exploding, imploding.
How I long to belong to the sea!
