Yearning

by

TL Taylor

They say there is supposed to be a reason,
According to those who claim to know
Yet my anguish and pain are without season-
For all their constancy I have nothing to show,
But this broken life and this broken love.
The claims of wholeness and unity seem odd
Supposed angels and prayers sent from above
All hope and faith given to the one God.
The peace and joy they have seems real
For the life of me it somehow escapes me
How it is they convince themselves to feel
Those blessed things that make them free
Though I have tried and wanted to believe
Their God, Their God he has forsaken me
Of my anguish and pain he will not relieve
Although divine, my peace and love cannot be.
