Cousin Harold - Epilog

by

Theresa Allen

You are confronted
With a round peg,
But you insist on the square hole.

You drink at the oasis,
An ephemeral hallucination in the desert,
And deny that your thirst is not quenched.

How am I to feel,
When you so stubbornly cling
To what is not real?

Can't you hear me?
How can I miss you
When you won't go away?
