I Lay Among The Flowers
by
Theresa Cecilia Garcia

I lay among the flowers,
smooth sweet turf amidst
summer blooms.
Half in sun, half in shadow,
playfully mouldering maze
summer meadow.
Weighing the good and the evil,
dividing myself from myself
summer roses.
Remembrance of still silence,
revolving perplexed labyrinths
mingled perfume.
People passing to and fro,
song of voices on red earth
gothic scutcheon.
Coming of age, choices making,
old blood calling
to old land.
Choosing charity, venerating saints,
I lay among the flowers
white with winters blessed.
