"The Time is Out of Joint’

by

Uzma Sadaf

Why does the sky seem to be broken
And the winds angry, the laps soaked
The face of the moon withered, its colour pale
The pupils of the eyes wide spread
Every thing seems to be out of place.
The front yard and the back yard of the house
Impatient to leave their places
The laps of the mothers deserted
Half bodies coming out of the wombs
What is all this? Who is this that taking away
The tiny houses of sands away far away.
A discussion going on between the complete
And incomplete, hanging state between
Defeat and victory, the ever changing minds
Nothing understandable, nothing audible
Mothers sobbing, their breasts burning
Their inside torn, their sobs dipped in blood
Every thing out of place. What is this all?
The young ones of the sparrows dying
In their nests due to hunger, who is there
To listen this all. Every body busy for nothing.
Time seems to stands still, no positive change
The pillars of the sky trembling
An unprecedented accident to happen?
