This Sadness I Live With

by

Yussuf Migoko

Even the nights seem colder now,
now that I'm on my own, alone,
facing a world that has gotten so cold,
trying to make it through bad days,
that often seem so endless...

I pray, sometimes,
but nothing happens,
and I look for signs,
but even those I can't seem find, anymore...

I know you had to go,
you had to leave me all alone,
'cause it was just too hard to choose,
between your family and the one you loved...

And this sadness I live with,
day in and day out,
knowing that the one I love,
the one I am meant to be with,
cannot be with me because her family forbids it...

Because we are different,
in all aspects and spheres of life,
and the old ways and traditions,
live on in the Asylum she calls home...
