Rain & Reason

by

Yvette S. Davis

The rain pounds like thunder in your head
It keeps you awake all night
No sunshine today, don’t want to get out of bed
Days go by, the rain hasn’t stopped
You lie there alone, curtains drawn, temples pulsating
Wondering if it will ever pass

Then out of the darkness shines a ray of light,
raindrops once like chards of glass now prisms of delight
You feel a burst of energy as the clouds part
Rainbows appear, a new horizon becomes crystal clear

Rain drops are like tears from heaven, the rhythm always has a reason
Like the rain that falls on the soil and nurtures the flowers
So they will grow stronger season after season
It gives us strength and with each passing storm we grow a little more.
